Most aviation art is representational, figurative, every detail is correct. I used to paint like that. It got tedious and predictable. I still paint about flying (I was a pilot after all) but now it is about the feel of flying - not how it looks but how it feels. That is a different approach, unusual for an aviation artist. Climb Out is an example; consider you are over the hassle of security and boarding and about to make a departure. Now you can relax in expectation of your arrival and enjoy the view of limitless space. Perhaps you are about to be served some champagne 🙂
