symbolic war painting - Danger Tree

This symbolic war painting takes a well known item and transfers it to a place of remembrance and recognition. Danger Tree was the name given to the last tree standing in Flanders during the Great War. The tree, it is still there, bares the scars of war and is petrified. Soldiers looked upon it with bemusement and wondered if they would have a similar fate to be a maimed survivor. Many did and returned home to "Blighty". One in eight soldiers remained forever in Flanders Fields. Danger Tree is their comanion now a symbol of their courage and ordeal.
