Great War Battles - The Somme

The Battle of The Somme during The great War was the most costly ever to the British Army. Nearly twenty thousand men died on the first day alone, it went on from 1st July 1916 until November. There was no gain. This painting is how the artist imagined the battle ground to look the day after the war. Deserted, discarded, pointless just like the battle itself. One of many Great War battles - The Somme it's chilling
