Contemporary War Paintings

The Great War, or World War One as it later became known, affected many lives. Paintings of this momentous event are widespread, my art attempts to capture the feelings of some of the soldiers there. Always respectfully. This painting is about the Menin Road, a rather insignificant road that happened to be approximately eight feet above the surrounding countryside. The advantage of height over the enemy was enough to sacrifice many thousands of lives on both sides.
